So it appears that Britney Spears has completely lost her mind. Her British accent, wearing an old wedding dress, not showing up to custody hearings, having mental breakdowns, and just being a general mess.
This evening I went to music.com and watched numerous music videos she has made over the years. Don't ask me why, I suppose I was bored with the apathy of home. Either way, watching these videos, in chronological order, allows a viewer to watch the metamorphosis from innocent teenager with big ambitions to someone with excessive power, ego, and monetary wealth. Along with the excessive "positives" as I will call them come excessive "negatives". The negatives basically encircle one primary drug: fame.
The paparazzi, whether you like them or not, have made a legitimate enterprise with the Britney Spears fiasco. TMZ.com, owned and run by AOL Time Warner (the same guys behind CNN and Headline Prime) contains numerous articles a day about the daily outings of Britney Spears and her various "friends" or "boyfriends". For that, I applaud them. It takes a lot of courage, stamina, and abrasiveness to throw cameras in the face of an individual for an indefinite amount of time.
However, one small problem with this branches from an idea I had regarding Chinese Water Torture. For those that are unaware of this particular method of torture, it involves strapping someone in a room, alone, with the sound of a dripping faucet. After the first hour, the patient is fine. The second hour brings slight apprehension. After several hours the patient has completely lost their mind. The sound of the dripping faucet, with its repetitiveness, had driven the specimen into the thresholds of complete and total insanity. Basically, it sucks.
a lot
Now, what happens when you put camera in the face of an individual for say...ten years? Yes, it has been ten years since Britney first landed into the huge spotlight of superstardom (not counting the days on the Mickey Mouse Club). The cameras become the faucet. No privacy pierces into Britney's personal life. Yes, she brought a lot of it on herself. She made a huge deal out of her engagement, her children, her albums, and her divorce. But, for someone as young as she was to understand and comprehend the heroin of stardom is ridiculous. Everyone endures the year sixteen, and generally, it's mauled with inevitably pathetic depression and worthless thematic elements that you later throw out (maturity is one hell of a thing). See, Britney was never allowed the concept of mistakes. College...hello? The collegiate world is filled with mistakes that are welcomed to be made. From mistakes comes maturity and experience.
Britney never endured that.
Hell, Britney never endure the idea of graduating from a high school with other individuals her age. Instead she's hailed as the next great Queen of the World. People not much younger than her worship her like some great deity. Alas, the old saying goes
"Absolute power corrupts absolutely"
I add to the paparazzi's gasoline by cementing this post onto my blog. Her continued drama will continue through this post, in some small way. Do I feel bad about it? Not necessarily. I suppose, the point to this entire article, is short and sweet
Britney's crazy
She needs help
No excuses, but reasons behind the madness
That is all
